Helping the Theater, One Board at a Time

with one comment

The Maplewood Barn Theatre has a long history in Columbia. The theater just finished its latest season with “Hat on a Cat Tin Roof.” Now with its recess over the winter, the barn is trying to raise money to fix its crumbling stage.

According to Michael Scott, president of the board of directors, various parts of the stage have been patched, but the stage is in need of a permanent solution.

With plans ready for the 2010 season, including “Arsenic and Old Lace,” “Othello,” and “Revenge of the Space Pandas,” Scott is hoping to raise money to begin construction in the spring.

To raise funds, the barn is hosting the “Buy the Barn a Board” program. People can pay $50 to purchase a board for the theater’s stage. All those who donated will have their name placed on a plaque in the theater.
