To Letterman (or Obama) Fans: “I was actually black before the election”

leave a comment »

President Obama showed his sense of humor on the David Letterman show Monday night.

After Letterman asked the President what he thought about Jimmy Carter’s comments that race might have been a factor in much of the recent “poor decorum,” Obama replied: “Well, something that I think is important to realize is that I was actually black before the election.”

The President was making the point that he was elected as President, despite the color of his skin, implying that race is not really the issue at hand for most people.

President Obama went on to reinforce his thoughts on the matter, citing historical controversies over FDR, JFK and Reagan when they were pushing for changes.
