Decemberists will perform inside Blue Note tonight

Indie-rock group, the Decemberists, are set to take stage at the Blue Note tonight. Originally, the concert was scheduled to be outdoors and open to concertgoers at 6:00 p.m. The show has now moved inside, and doors will open at 7:00 p.m.

The Decemberists’ fifth and latest album, The Hazards of Love, was released earlier this year, and has proven to be a huge success. In a rather atypical fashion, the band created a type of folk-story out of the album. Lead singer Colin Meloy asked Shara Worden, of My Brightest Diamond, and Lavender Diamond‘s Becky Stark to work and tour with them for the album.

Following the story format, the Decemberists generally play all of the album’s songs in order from first to last. They are expected to do so tonight as well. Especially popular songs from The Hazards of Love include the delightfully morbid “The Rake’s Song” and the Colin-Shara duo “The Wanting Comes in Waves/Repaid”.

Laura Veirs and the Hall of Flames are scheduled to open for the Decemberists at the Blue Note tonight. Tickets for the show are $23 at the door.
