It’s the second day of the Roots ‘N Blues ‘N BBQ Festival in downtown Columbia and the beats are bumping, the guitars are strumming and the sweet and tangy scent of barbecue sauce is lingering in the air.

A major event taking place today is the third annual Kansas City  Barbecue Society festival competition.  Competitors  will be busy enticing judges’ taste buds and vying for the title of grand champion.  There will be $15,000 in cash prizes awarded.   Judging categories include beef brisket, pork, ribs, chicken and dessert.

To compliment the competition is today’s musical line-up featuring musicians:  Mike Zito, Heather Myles, James Hand, Rory Block, Booker T, and the John Cowan band.
